I have speciality cocktails like this Tangerine Dream Margarita on the brain. It could be because it is summer. The days are longer and the nights are warmer, making it perfect cocktail weather. But it is probably because my birthday is rapidly approaching and I may need to drink a Tangerine Dream Margarita (or two) to embrace it with grace. Getting older is not for sissies….
However, my soon to be escalating age does give me a good excuse to break out the tequila. I don’t drink often, but if I am going to have a cocktail in the summer, it is going to be something with tequila like my divine Pomegranate Spritzer. I thought about serving it for my upcoming birthday fête, but I am having quite a few gal pals over and it was giving me visions of pomegranate juice splattered walls.
So, I decided that I need a cocktail that can:
- Be made ahead of time in a pitcher for a large group
- That doesn’t stain if spilled
This Tangerine Dream Margarita totally fits the bill. It’s delicious. Easy to make. Pretty to look at and feels totally festive. Personally, I find that a speciality cocktail always makes for a good party.
If you can’t find tangerine juice (available at my local Ralphs in the fresh juice section), you can substitute orange juice or blood orange juice although the latter can stain… Just saying.
