I can’t wear wool. It rubs me the wrong way, making my skin red, splotchy and irritated. But cashmere…. cashmere, I love. It’s incredibly soft. It doesn’t have long hairs that get caught in my eyeballs like angora. And it’s toasty warm. The only bummer is that cashmere needs to be dry cleaned. Which is expensive. And takes planning. And sometimes makes your sweater smell kind of funky.
But now, thanks to the clothing company Kit and Ace, there is machine washable cashmere. I haven’t been this excited since it became de rigueur to add lycra to blue jeans. And to make things even better, the prices are pretty dang reasonable. I just ordered a sweater for my Mom for her birthday, and have quite a few items, including the above coat/shawl/wrap on my Christmas wish list. That is if I can wait that long…..
wait, I’ve always hand-washed my cashmere, laying flat to dry!
This is even easier. Throw it in the machine. Very lightweight too so great for So Cal….
