Everyday, there is some new story about the perils of parabens, sulfates and the other chemical ingredients that litter everything from our countertop cleaner to our lipstick. And although there are some truly effective chemical free cleaning products on the market these days, that has not been the case when it comes to makeup and skin care. That is not until recently. Companies such as Juice Beauty, Bare Minerals, the Honest Company, Acure and Alba are now producing some really fantastic paraben and chemical free options. In fact, the market is so “hot” that Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP just released a line of high end, all natural skin care products that are said to rival industry darlings such as La Mer.
Which is good news for the consumer. Personally, my feeling is why have something chemical on your skin if you don’t have to? Sometimes we don’t have a choice since there isn’t a natural alternative. Other times, the chemical free option is either too expensive or it simply doesn’t work very well. Luckily, this is not the case with these fabulous Amuse Bouche lipsticks from Bite Beauty available at Sephora.
Made by hand, each of their 34 delicious colors are paraben, sulfate and phthalates free. Instead, they’re packed with 12 richly hydrating, all natural oils, anti-oxidants such as red wine resveratrol and yummy tasting citrus flavors. The result is a deeply pigmented, moisturizing lipstick that feels amazing, looks gorgeous and which happens to be paraben free. Fantastic, right?
I bought mine in “Pepper”, a lovely pinky brown neutral. My lips are not my comfort zone so as much as I adore a red lip, I always feel like an idiot wearing one. However, having checked out the pictures from the recent Met Gala, the dark lip looks to be making a comeback so maybe I’ll give “Nori” a try for fall. Who knows. Stranger things have happened.
